We made our way to the Clingmans Dome observation tower in the darkness, hoping to catch a view of the sunrise over the rolling valleys of the Great Smoky Mountains. The weather forecast stated a clear morning, but mountain weather is often unpredictable. The entire scene remained foggy past the time of dawn. As we began to make our way back down, for a brief moment the morning sunlight broke through the cloud layer bathing us in it’s warm glow.
