Through the hazy and smoky atmosphere a beautiful set of crepuscular rays rain down from the late afternoon sun into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
This image was captured a few weeks ago, but the dry conditions have set off a few fires burning within the National Park today. Some covering hundreds of acres at the popular Chimney Top peaks. The unfortunate word, so far, has been that it was likely human caused and spread quickly in the high winds. There is a large storm system passing by later today which will, hopefully, dampen down some of the fires.
