The Beehives of Zion canyon are set along the western side of the towering Sentinel peak. These white navajo sandstone formations line the ridges of the canyon walls like crowns on royalty. From this vantage point we can see multiple types of geological rock layers, from the golden Temple Cap Formation at the top of the Beehives all the way down through the red Moenkopi Formations, spanning over 100 million years of the Mesozoic period’s sedimentary layering.
